About Nettle Theatre

Nettle is the result of being tired, being angry, being violated, and being betrayed. The core beliefs of Nettle have always been inside us and part of our friendship. We just happen to use theatre as our medium.

Nettle Theatre was co-founded by Hetty Melrose and Eve Allin in their final year of English and Theatre at Warwick University. After making a number of shows together, it became clear that their creative practices were completely intertwined and that they wanted to continue to make bold, formally innovative, feminist work after leaving university. Most of their work is made in protest - whether that be against the industry, against the institutions that house them, or against the ways that sexism pervades their lives and bodies. Hetty and Eve make work as a pair - they both write, perform, direct, and produce the shows that Nettle make.
